Belmont Stakes
Belmont Stakes The Story of The Best of the Best
Once you are here at the Belmont Stakes its down to the wire for the last part of the Triple Crown. This is the
final race for the three part triple series races that witnesses 20 of the finest thoroughbreds in existence
compete against each other.
Its held in Elmont N.Y. at the Belmont Park every June. Its a 1.5 mile (2.4km) track that awaits the three
year old thoroughbreds. . Commonly known also as the Run for the Carnations because the winner is adorned with an
array of white carnations draped around the neck.
If you have placed your gambling bet on the potential winner of this race and that horse has one the last two
Triple Crown races then you are looking good for winning some great money, depending on the amount of your bet of
course.
When you were doing your research to determine who to place your bet on naturally you would have considered the
potential racing conditions for each of the three Triple Crown races.
Hopefully you have taken into consideration this last journey of races here at Belmont for the Triple Crown. To
begin with you should have had a good basic knowledge of the conditions here at Belmont. It is not called the “Test
of Champions” for nothing.
The test here that each of the horses must face is the distance they must run which as a rule most of the 3
years olds are not used to. They have not done much of this type of running race wise, but most likely their
trainers have tried to give them as much exposure as possible.
Any horse that wants to win the Belmont stakes has to have the stamina to run this distance and maintain the
speed as well. This is where the expertise of the jockey is really going to be put to the test as well. He must
know exactly where to position his mount and when to take the lead.
No doubt if your betting strategy has brought you to the possibility of winning your bet then this will seem
like the longest race in history for you.
There is no doubt that any individual that enjoys horse betting really is an avid follower of the racing circuit.
Many times that is not enough though.
It takes a different type of strategy to be a successful gaming expert when it comes to the races than it does
with other forms of gaming.
Here you have to consider both the horse and rider, not just opponents sitting across a gaming table as in
gambling table games.
Over and above the Triple Crown, a win here at Belmont certainly does speak highly of all those with any
involvement with the winning horse. This starts right from the breeders, to the owner.
From there it moves up the ladder to the trainers then to the jockey. Finally thrown in there has to be the
element of luck. In this case it’s a matter of being in the right place at the right time in the proper condition
for the horse.
