The Kentucky Derby The Beginning Of The Exciting Triple Crown

This is where it all begins or ends depending on which way you want to look at it. The main event of the horse racing industry is about to begin here at the Kentucky derby with the first of the three races of the much coveted triple crown.

This will be a 1 ¼ mile race. All the top-notch 3-year-old thoroughbreds that have proven themselves worthy to be here will be at the starting gate. Their acceptance in to this race was based on their stakes earning during the year. In total, there will be twenty horses chomping at the bit to become the Triple Crown winner.

If you are an avid follower of the Triple Crown most likely, you are a betting person as well. Now has come the time to make your decision on who is going to be the glorious triple crown winner. Should you pick the right horse then you are most certainly going to be walking away with some nice winnings.

So how do you tighten up the odds a bit for yourself? If you are not a betting individual that leave it all up to luck then you had better do some homework. Many factors are going to determine the winner. The more you know these factors the better it is going to be for you lucky pick.

You must realize that there are three tracks that you have to consider, as there are three separate races. So which horse do you think can handle an all three tracks the best?

Then you must consider the weather. Not likely, the same conditions are going to prevail for all three races. Therefore, which horse can stand up against what ever Mother Nature wants to throw at them/

Then there is the actual race itself. All at different lengths. Which horse is going to have the stamina and durability to adjust to the various lengths?

Finally, there is how well the horse has been performing recently. Which one is hot and right on the money?

So as you can see these are just a few of the factors that you are going to want to consider when determining where to play your money. If you pick a few horses that you feel stand out amongst the twenty enrolled then this is where you should center your attention.

Apply these few test questions towards their ability and you just may give yourself a little bit of an edge when it comes to placing your bet. Oh yes, there is one more important question to ask…is lady luck on your side?

You must also factor in the owners of the horse. Who is the trainer? Who is the jockey? These are all key issues in how the horse performs as well. You need to be aware of the capabilities for each of the individuals before deciding on the final bet.

Remember though with all your careful planning and your knowledge it still comes down to an element of sheer luck.
