Triple Crown
The Triple Crown Races Means Triple Excitement
If you are into horse betting then when it comes to the Triple Crown not only are you going to hold your breath
and cover your eyes once, twice but three times. That is because the horse you favored to win has to do so three
times.
Your horse will have to participate in the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and the Belmont Stakes as well. In
addition to this all three races must be won within the same year. There is no doubt that you are not going to want
to miss seeing any of these races.
In any event, if you want to be a Triple Crown betting winner then you are going to have to make the right
choice that is applicable to the three races.
Any horse that accomplishes this task most certainly is considered the best there is in thoroughbred horses.
This title can only become the reality of a three-year-old thoroughbred.
Planning your betting strategy
Just as these horses have to be trained for the events they are facing you need to train
yourself in your betting strategies. You are obviously not going to use the same tactics in this case. For example,
handicaps are not something you are going to have to consider.
Unless you are strictly a “depend on luck” bettor then you are going to have to do your homework concerning
these horses. Do not forget that with facing three separate races the horses are facing three different sets of
conditions.
First how good will they do on a particular track, how will they handle the weather conditions for each race and
finally how has their performance been just prior to the races.
You are going to need the best possible answers for the horses that you at least feel stand a good chance at
winning the triple crown. Perhaps you have a favorite but where does that favorite stand with the various
conditions?
Looking at the tracks
Churchill Downs will be the starting point of this most exciting event. This is the Kentucky Derby and has been
dubbed the run for the roses as the winner is adorned in a blanket of roses about his neck. It is a 1.25 mile early
season run. This makes the track somewhat unpredictable.
Preakness Stakes is the second on the Triple Crown Venue. This race is held at Baltimore Maryland at their Race
course. This is the shortest run of the three races being at 1 3/16 miles. This race is dubbed the black eyes
Susan’s as this the blanket flower reserved for the winner.
Finally, there is the Belmont Stakes. It is not a matter of saving the best for last in this situation and this
racecourse is the most demanding of the three in the opinion of some. The race is 1.5m. The flower of choice here
for the winner is the carnation.
Therefore, you can see your betting strategy is going to have to take into consideration the stamina of your
favorite horse in comparison to the distance runs of each track.
This is where it all begins or ends depending on which way you want to look at it. The main event of the horse
racing industry is about to begin here at the Kentucky derby with the first of the three races of the much
coveted triple crown.
The Belmont Stakes is the final race for the three part triple crown series races that witnesses the finest
thoroughbreds in existence compete against each other.
With a little bit of luck and some good strategic planning, hopefully you are attending the Preakness Stakes
with the anticipation of seeing the horse you bet on come in first for the second leg of the Triple Crown.
